How to merge models and their associated Assets which have different names related to one model

Hello,

Am working on hardware asset management to eliminate duplicate Assets and Models. We have models created with transform maps, manually and SCCM. when importing Assets into hardware asset table they wrongly mapped to model field on Hardware Asset table because of that multiple Models are created for the same model and each model has assets associated with it. How can I move all assets under one Model name which are created with different model names? How can I make it a unique record with all the assets combined.

I have attached a screenshot of that

Thanks in advancefind_real_file.png

Hi All,

We have the same problem at my site too and so I'd just like to add my query to this - if there is anyone has a workable solution to this issue? i.e. How can you merge the mulitple hardware models that are physically the same thing but have slightly different names (often due to automated discovery and the bios type scenario mentioned by daviddixon above?

Thanks,

Arthur

Is there a solution to this? (other than what i'm guessing, is a HAM Pro Function?)... Would be nice if the Duplicate Remediation tool that combines CI records, worked with Model Records.

Not an OOB solution, but one I can attest helped me. I found this post on the community forum a while back and it has been a LIFE-SAVER. It essentially does a scan of any records that reference whatever you run it on. My team (two people) moved to a custom Location table a while back and used this to find and replace references to specific locations across multiple tables. I'm tackling your issue with duplicate models in our instance now and this is helping a ton. There's a link towards the bottom of the post to an update set that includes all the elements needed to get up and running. Leave a Helpful on his post while you're there!
