Is there a faster way to quickly edit date fields?

I have over 100 WBS items that I need to edit the planned start & end date.

Having to double click into each field, select a date from the calendar,  click out of the field, and repeat is very time consuming. In other apps, I could tab into a field and immediately type out a date in any format, and it would auto format the date correctly.

Is there a faster way to edit the planned start & end dates?
