New Demand Workspace and Scrum Epics - what is currently best practice?

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering, with the introduction of EAP + CWM and Agile 2.0 gradually becoming legacy, how should we approach creating Epics from Demand?

I mean, especially with the introduction of the new Demand Workspace Page in SPW. We work with dmn_demand objects there, there is a possibility to create a Scrum Epic, but still it seems the OOTB related lists only show rm_epic records?

What is a recommended way for DMs to create and view Scrum Epics from this Demand Workspace?

Also, what is a preferred data connection between sn_align_core_epic and dmn_demand?

Or will the connection remain only via rm_epic, even though it will be deprecated?

Many thanks for all your thoughts and suggestions!

Hi Tom,

For new implementations, avoid building new Epic relationships around the legacy rm_epic table.

The recommended direction is to use sn_align_core_scrum_epic for new Epic-level work. This is the shared Epic table used by EAP and CWM, while rm_epic belongs to the legacy Agile 2.0 model.

For Demand, keep dmn_demand as the execution/intake record and use the OOTB alignment integration to connect it with the corresponding planning item where required.

So the preferred direction is:

For CWM, don't introduce a custom dmn_demand >> rm_epic relationship just to make the Epic visible. The current guidance is to use sn_align_core_scrum_epic for new Epic-level work and use the supported CWM/EAP relationship rather than extending the legacy Agile 2.0 model.

The main takeaway: new Epic implementations >> sn_align_core_scrum_epic; avoid designing new dependencies on rm_epic.

Thank you, indeed the new sn_align_core_scrum_epic is what we're following, I'm still not sure if currently, there is any way OOTB to provide the relationship between sn_align_core_epic and dmn_demand. I see there is "Create EAP Epic" UI Action but not sure if this is intended to work in a scenario where only CWM is used, without EAP.
