PI Objectives, Sprint Goals, and EAP

Looking to see how others are handling PI Objectives in the EAP format.  Typically in PI Planning objectives are created and the business assigns an expected business value to it.  At the completion of the PI, the business comes back and assigns the actual delivered value.  This becomes the Team's or ART's predictability score.  It appears in the new EAP everything is handled using the ServiceNow Goals form and framework.  From what I have been able to research, using the goals seems like a lot of work and overkill for the purpose of PI Objectives and simple Sprint Goals.

I would really love to hear how others are managing this.

Hi,

This is Scott Townsend (PM for this area), and you're correct in that we're leveraging the Goals functionality.  It's a bit more than required for tracking PI Objectives as defined by SAFe (and we debated pros/cons).  In the end, it provides consistency across SPW and allows for those who are interested to rollup PI goals into the goals framework (but this isn't required as the PI Goals may differ from what you'd like to see within a Portfolio Plan).  You do have a couple more steps in that you need to create both a goal and a target (typically created using the "Count" unit of measure - so you can enter the target and actual values).  I should also mention that we do plan to add the Flow Predictability report using these values.

I hope that helps!

Scott
