Hello Experts,
I am working on Kingston version of ServiceNow. I am trying to change the phase of an "Executing" project to "Closing". It throws an error:
"Phase can-not be moved to closing state because some subtask is opened".
Looking at this error, I changed the state of last task to Closed Completed". As soon as I did this, project state changed to "Closed Completed" automatically. My need is to keep my project in "Closing" phase and "Work in Progress" state so that I can perform some administrative tasks before completely closing it.
Q: How can I achieve the following:
Project Phase: Closing
Project State: Work in Progress
Project Task State (just last): Work in Progress

Please change project state to "closed incomplete" which allows you to keep tasks open for that project.
After all tasks are closed, you can change project state to "closed complete".
Please see below documentation.

I found this useful comment while looking into the below thread hope it might give you direction
- When the last Project Task closes, the Project state automatically changes to Closed. This happens under both Manual and Automatic calculation types. There are several Community threads on how to stop this behavior (here is one). A recommended business process is to have a Task at the end of every Project that would be assigned to the project manager - like 'Validate Project for Closure" and then make it a successor from the last Task, usually a milestone. When the project_manager validates and closes that Task, then the Project would auto-close and you would record the project manager's validation work in a Task.

Thanks for your response. Just a quick question:
Can I change the phase of project to "Closing" even when one of my project task is in "Work in Progress" state? Is it a best practice doing so?
