Ranking in SPW

I have two different Portfolios created that have some of the same demands and projects.  When I change the rank of a project in portfolio 1, it changes the rank of the same project in portfolio 2.

Is that normal behavior?

Hi @michellenason ,

Thanks for posting the question.

Out of the box capability allows to align 1 project with one portfolio... Looks there was some script written to make this happen...

Please check with the admin.

Thank You!

@michellenason  Each project and demand has a unique global rank associated to it. If you move the a project/demand in one portfolio plan and you have the same project/demand in other portfolio plan, it will change the impact the rank as the Rank field is relative ranking , however the global rank is the unique value.

Its recommended to not have same set of projects/demands in two different portfolio plans. Incase you have such requirement please try out scenario planning within a portfolio plan.

@Prashant_S could you provide more context around this or point me to Product Documentation explaining this?  My understanding was that projects/demands could be relatively ranked within each portfolio but that the calculated score (derived by your scoring model selected) was the consistent value across all portfolios.

@JR Laprime  Looks like there is some misunderstanding. You are right the final score per scoring framework selected remains consistent but there is a Rank field against each planning item. This Rank field for the planning item is a relative value and can vary from one portfolio plan to other.
