Hello all!
We recently implemented SPW and are now looking to represent approved budget for a given year. I also want the flexibility to show that a particular portfolio of work may have multiple different funding sources; for example, there could be a shared pot across business lines for investment and then each business line would also have an operational budget. Or there is also some consideration around dedicating some of the investment budget to AI investment specifically. So, we could have a target spend in each "bucket" of work for a given year, and as work is approved for execution you could see the funds get earmarked for various projects.
The challenge comes when wanting to slice and dice across portfolios. If a given business line wants to see both the investment and operational work for just them, then their target comes from two unique budgets. It looks like targets are set at the portfolio plan level, so you have a unique target for each portfolio plan.
It looks like what we would want is to use the Top Level Investment table, but that does not appear to be compatible with Financial Planning. I see claims that eventually investment funding will become compatible with financial planning in SPW, but I don't know if that means we will get this capability.
How would we do this today in financial planning? Thanks!
