A number of new resource managers have completed their resource plans in the system by mistake. Is there a way how we can re-open those plans?

Hi
OOTB there is no option to reopen the completed resource plans.
However, you can create a copy of the completed resource plan. This will create a new RPLN in planning state; just that you will save time & effort required in recreating the RPLN.
Related point I would like to mention here is that starting Rome release, there is a capability to reduce the resource plan's duration. These RPLNS need to be in confirmed or allocated state.
The use case to utilize this option is when a PM / RM realizes that the work can be done in shorter period than planned earlier. In this case, PM / RM can reduce resource plan's duration. It will
1. Keep the RPLN in active state (unlike Complete where the RPLN is not available for use)
2. Release the allocations of all the resources for the period beyond the new date.
3. Update the related cost plan and the cost will be decreased.
You can find details of 'Reduce Resource Plan' in the documentation.
In case later PM realizes, that he would require the resources for more duration, he can always request extension for the resources by using Request Extension option on the RPLN.
In case you find this answers your question, please mark it as Correct.
Thanks,
Namita Mishra

Hello Namita,
thanks for your answer.
You say there is no OOTB way ... is there a non-OOTB way?
Our problem is that the completed RPLNs have too many allocations, leaving no capacity for the selected resources.
I know I can delete the respective RALLOC records, but am also afraid of the side effects (e.g. rollups potentially not working because the RPLN won't be updated any longer).
regards,
Markus

Hi Markus,
We are having the exact same issue with one of our resource plans. A user completed it with 256 hours allocated for the month on an individual user which is preventing new allocations for that user due to overallocation. Were you able to find an answer to your questions on the impact of modifying/deleting the impacted allocation records for a completed plan? If so what route did you take?

Hi Eric,
we did end up spending a ton of time to carefully delete the allocation records. Rollup to daily allocations worked well from what I remember.
Our second problem was that the RPLNs were completed the wrong way, by means of a bug we had created: the end date was now before the start date. This caused the aggregate calculation to not correct the aggregate tables, as it starts at the RPLNs and runs from their start to their end date. So deleting the RALLOCs did not change our reporting results. Hopefully you won't have that problem.
