Resource Reports - Add Category to Entity List

Is it possible to add Category (demand / strategic v. operational) to the Entity List in Resource Reports? Would it be recommended or not recommended to configure / customize the list of options available?

Yes it's possible to customize these resource reports, entry point to customizing would be through Script include Named : ResourceReportService and UI macro resource_report.
