Restricting resource assignment by group / department in ServiceNow PPM

Hi everyone,

 

I have a question related to Resource Management / PPM. We have a requirement where resource managers should only be able to assign resources belonging to their own technical area (for example: department, group...).

 

In other words:

  • Each resource belongs to a specific technical area

  • Each resource manager is responsible for one technical area

  • Resource managers should not see or assign resources outside their scope when creating resource plans or allocations

I’m trying to understand:

  • Is this kind of restriction supported out of the box in ServiceNow?

  • What is the recommended approach to implement it?

If anyone has implemented a similar setup, I’d really appreciate guidance on the best-practice approach and which data model (department, group, skills, pools, etc.) works best for this use case.
