SPM Portfolio Planning - Revert Scenario Approval

Hi Community,

I created a portfolio plan in SPM -> Portfolio Planning. Then I created a scenario and approved it. As a result in the Financials tab all the budgets got populated accordingly.
However, I want to reuse the portfolio plan that I created for further demonstrations and I want the Target and the Target balance rows clear.

Question: Is there a way to revert this scenario approval?

Best,
Mariya

Once a scenario is approved in SPM Portfolio Planning, the financial values are typically committed/populated into the portfolio plan and there is no direct “Undo Approval” button available OOTB in many versions.

You can try the following approaches depending on your instance/version:

1. Check if the scenario state can be manually reverted from Approved back to Draft/Planning.
- Some implementations restrict this through business rules/workflows.

2. Review related financial tables/target balance records populated during approval.
- In some cases, clearing the generated target rows manually (or via background script in non-prod) may be required.

3. If this is only for demo purposes, consider:
- duplicating the original portfolio plan before approval
- or restoring from a clean baseline/demo data set

4. Also verify whether a rollback context or transaction was generated during approval:
- System Diagnostics → Transactions
- Rollback & Recovery (if enabled/customized)

5. If approvals were driven through Flow Designer/workflows, there may be custom logic preventing reversal.

I would recommend testing in a sub-prod instance first because reverting approved financial data can impact related budget calculations and downstream planning records.

Hi @mariyatodor

Revert scenario approval is not supported feature of OOB.

Only  while approving a scenario, you can:

  • Select Convert In-plan Demands to Projects toggle to convert the prioritized demands to projects automatically and build a functional portfolio plan.
  • Delete the remaining scenarios by selecting the Delete other scenarios toggle.
  • Enter a reason for approving the scenario in the Notes field.
