Strategic Program financials (actuals) inside Strategic Planning Workspace (SPW)

I created a strategic program in the Strategic Planning Workspace.
 - This strategic program has multiple demands and projects and I can see them in the lens, on both the prioritization and roadmap views.

 - One of the projects has cost plans and some expense lines, but I do not see the planned costs on the Financials area of the Strategic Program form.

 - I can manually add planned costs to the strategic program (and have done so in this screenshot)

 - The actual costs appear to be read only, so I assumed that these fields would be populated from data rolling up from the projects and demands associated

In SPW, how do the financials get populated on the Strategic Program form?  Should planning item data be populating the parent Strategic Program record or is that information coming from somewhere else?

I reached out to the SPW product team, directly, for an answer and here is the reply:

As of today, the actuals are not rolling up to the high-level entities. We still do not have the financial infrastructure on high level entities like we have in projects and demands. However, we are currently working on making the high-level entities financially enabled. Most likely they will have similar financial fiscal breakdowns like the projects. This is tentatively planned to be released by end of this year or early next year. Once the financials are available, you will be able to allocate budgets and see the actuals rollup to the high-level entities.

But until then if you want to view the financials at program level, you can utilize the PPM program table, that is already tied to the projects and demands. But the future is the strategic program table, that will enable you to do the hybrid planning.

Hi ,

The program will have the aggregated view of the projects costs under them . If you are program is parent program and projects are linked to the child program then financials information will be updated only to the child program.

The planned cost will be calculated from the cost plans and actual cost is calculated from expense line ( The Expense lines are proceed on scheduled basis by the scheduled job - Process ExpenseLines ).

Mark correct  and helpful, If it helps

I am not talking about pm_program, I am asking about the new strategic program sn_align_core_program which does not appear to work the same way as the PPM pm_program.

Based on your conversation with support, does it seem like strategic programs are meant to be the SPW component that mirrors pm_programs from PPM?  I'm looking for clarity on what a Strategic Program is and how it works.
