Updating & deleting Resource Allocations (in allocated state)

I'm trying to determine what the best approach to handle Resource Allocation changes once a project is underway. I perused the Community however cannot find the answer I'm hoping to find.

Example:

You a have Project and Resource Plan with hard allocations. A 100 hours Resource Plan runs from May 1 - August 31. The allocates make for 25 hours per month. It's now July and I have to change the 25 hours to 50 hours because of scope creep (or whatever) for a total of 125 hours. I can't edit the allocation because we're in July.

I need to change the hours to 50 and have the Resource Manager approve the change. I would like to do this in the simplest way. If I change the Resource Plan to 125 hours and save it, it does appear to go back to a requested state, but then it would divide the additional 25 hours among the four months. I do not wish to change any of the other allocations. I simply would like to change the one value in the Resource Allocation and have the request triggered for just that change.

For reasons you've mentioned, if you could modify the existing one, the hours would splits across the months. I'd recommend you take a look at Copy Resource Plan under Related Links. This will copy the existing Allocated Plan into a new Plan in Draft state. That will allow you to quickly change the dates and hours and submit:
