User Story State - Timeline / Time In State / Cumulative Flow

Hello

I'm looking into past metrics on our Scrum team. In the spirit of Scrum we're always looking for ways to improve. We're at a point where we have a lot of valuable data that could better describe our past performance.

I'm interested in identifying the average time a story spends in a  state for a given team. If I look at the  metrics timeline on a given story that for sure gives me useful info regarding the time spent in the story state and even who it was assigned to.

If I was able to create a metrics timeline showing how long on average stories spent in each state for all stories created between two time intervals and even owned by a team that would be valuable.

I've taken a look at the Agile 2.0 Release Dashboard with the hopes the Cumulative Flow Diagram would give me the data I'm looking for to see what states we tend to get stalled out at but I'm really looking for the data for all stories based on criteria, not a release.

Metrics timeline with the story states or Cumulative Flow Diagram for stories would be so valuable!

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi, Jim.  There is a Performance Analytics content pack for Agile 2.0 that has indicators that I think will address your needs going forward.  Here is a link to the documentation for it: https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/sandiego-now-intelligence/page/use/dashboards/reference/agile-20-indicators.html

There is an indicator for Average Story State duration and for Story State Duration.  I believe you can do breakdowns by Assigned to and Assignment group.

A couple of caveats, this requires that you be licensed for Performance Analytics Premium; also, I'm not sure if you will be able to gather historical data using that.  You might be able to get State and Assignee changes from the sys_audit table, but I don't think there would be an easy way to do that.

Hope this helps.
