Thursday
Hi Community,
I have been working in the HR domain for the last 7 years and am now planning to build my career in ServiceNow. Since I have significant HR domain experience but am new to ServiceNow, I would like to understand how I should position myself when applying for ServiceNow roles.
Should I apply as a fresher in ServiceNow, or can I leverage my 7 years of HR experience. Which approach would be more beneficial for long-term career growth and job opportunities?
I would appreciate any guidance from professionals who have made a similar transition or are working in
ServiceNow HRSD.
Thank you.

Hi
Greetings!
I am a ServiceNow trainer and happy to guide you. ServiceNow is growing, and the platform is becoming wider and more powerful. If you want to move forward in ServiceNow, it requires effort, focus, dedication, and determination—but once you stay consistent, it becomes easier.
To start in ServiceNow, begin with CSA (Certified System Administrator). This is the basic certification that gives you clarity on the platform, its terminology, and its architecture. After that, you can move to HRSD or other end-to-end modules to gain deeper understanding.
All courses are currently available for free in Now Learning. My only suggestion is to focus on learning first and not worry about certifications at the beginning—you can earn them later.

Hi @anjalinegi1
Welcome to ServiceNow Community. As you are from HR background, , interested to join Servicenow
I will suggest you to first complete "Welcome to ServiceNow " course ,so that you can navigate smoothly within the tool. CSA will give you Admin confidence.
As you have HR exp, I will recommend you to choose implementer of HRSD in Servicenow Provided Career Journey path.
For it you have to complete "Human Resources Service Delivery (HRSD) Fundamentals" , and then prepare for CIS-HRSD certification.
Their are lots of course available for HR like
Hiring Experiences Implementation Bootcamp
Employee Growth and Development Essentials (Washington DC)
Employee Growth and Development Implementation Bootcamp Accreditation
At the end You can check my blog for Employee/employee center /HR related certification/accreditation , open it and go for it.

Hi @anjalinegi1 ,
Hope you're doing well! Welcome to the ServiceNow ecosystem.
With 7 years of HR experience, I wouldn't position myself as a complete fresher. Your HR domain knowledge is valuable and can be a strong asset, especially if you're interested in ServiceNow HRSD.
However in ServiceNow, you can choose two very different paths:
- The Technical Path: Building, coding, and development (like an HRSD Developer).
- The Functional Path: Managing processes, talking to clients, and business planning (like an HRSD Consultant).
Go to ServiceNow Now Learning and log into your account. The platform must see your profile to save your results.
Click this link to open the page directly: ServiceNow Career Journey.
- Look for the message that says: "Try our question-based assessment instead."
- Click Next on the pop-up window.
- Answer the 5 simple questions about your background and interests, then click Submit.
The tool will put an orange "Recommended" tag next to the best role for you. Click "Go to career journey" and then hit "Start" to get your step-by-step course map!
I have also attached the learning path for your reference.
Good Luck
