Hello

A few months ago, I was completely new to ServiceNow. I didn’t know where to start or how the platform worked. Everything looked confusing at first, and I felt like learning it would take a very long time.

While searching on YouTube for some guidance, I came across  Sir’s channel. That’s where my ServiceNow learning journey actually started. His way of explaining concepts in a simple and practical manner made things much easier to understand. Step by step, I started learning the basics, practicing in my own instance, and gradually building confidence.

Over the months, I realized how much I had grown. From not knowing anything about ServiceNow, I can now say that I’m no longer a beginner. There is still a lot to learn, but the foundation has become strong.

My small suggestion to anyone who is starting with ServiceNow: try learning from Atul Sir’s channel. Stay consistent, practice regularly, and keep exploring the platform. If you keep learning with dedication, I’m sure you’ll soon become confident and move towards becoming an expert.

You can refer post from  As well, given good guidance and some links for study material.

While my colleagues here are giving some pretty practical advice.  I have some rather abstract advice, coming from software engineering and startups to an Enterprise ServiceNow Platform was a bit of a culture shock.

Take it slow, hands on practice, learn from the experts here on the forums and ask questions.  Its a journey not a sprint you are going to collect a bunch of useful tools in your toolbox that will help you solve problems with the platform.  System Administration is a discipline: its a professional discipline, a technical discipline and an emerging academic discipline.   When taking notes or developing governance make sure to tag whether or not it is platform specific.  In many cases what you will find out is that ServiceNow is a tool that we use to build solutions but the methods that we use within the tool are rather universal.

ServiceNow as a platform is an enterprise could platform for workflow automation and digital operations management.  The real benefits (in my opinion) are that it has a single data model (CMDB), almost everything can be automated with relatively low friction (compared to building integrations from scratch), the extensibility floor is really high (drag and drop all the way to REST APIs) and much of the governance and auditability are baked into the product (every record change is logged, every approval is tracked etc)  there (as with any products) some caveats that are pretty manageable, but we can talk on the side.
