Hi Community
can you help please, what is the function of the field Group.type, and is it a big deal for a group to not have a group type?
Thanks

Hi @AnthonyMull
Group Type is used to classify groups based on their function, such as IT, HR, or other types. It helps in organizing and managing groups effectively. By using Group Type, you can easily filter assignment groups according to their category. Additionally, a reference qualifier can be applied to the Assignment Group field to restrict and display only the relevant groups based on the selected Group Type.
Hope that helps!

Hello @AnthonyMull ,
Group.Type is used to categorize groups and support filtering/logic; it’s not mandatory, but missing it can cause issues if your system depends on it.
If you take example of FSM, group type is necessary to fill for agents. So in this case it might be mandatory. But usually, its not.

Hi Anthony,
It depends on the implementation and how you want to leverage it. I have seen companies that use it to identify whether a group is for support or approval etc. Also some companies use it to identify the business unit through this. Some also don't care about it.
So It depends on the processes and procedures of the company i would say.
