How long before you took the CSA exam?

Hello there!

Just curious to see how long it took you all to take and pass the CSA exam?

I am in the process of retaking the exam (2nd attempt) this Wednesday and feel pretty good about passing.

I was introduced to ServiceNow at the end of December 2025 and began my journey taking the prerequisite classes and studying for the exam. (about a month now)

The credentialing guidelines suggest working in the industry for 6 month to 1 year before taking the exam and I am wondering what are your thoughts on that.

I decided to study and go ahead and take the exam and then apply for an entry level position to gain experience that way.

I would love to hear you thoughts and would be happy to receive guidance and suggestions for success!

Kind Regards!

Excellent and thank you for the wonderful insights! I'm studying now and taking a mock exam as we speak, in preparation for the exam on Wednesday (1/28/2026).  I missed the first exam by 3 points but the experience allowed me to better understand what to look for. Your suggestion to go through the slides and eBook thoroughly are well taken.  I decided to go this route (taking the exam immediately) because I'm not sure of how to get a position without any experience. At least with the CSA in hand it might make it a little easier to land an entry level position as I continue on with additional certifications.

After obtaining the CSA, can you suggest additional steps to help in my CSA journey?

Hi @admartin68

I failed the CSA exam once and passed it on my second try.

When I failed once, I realized that it was important to thoroughly check and understand the actual environment using PDI.

So I think it's important to do each lab repeatedly.

All the best for your exam.
