I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'm really trying to find an answer to this question and have had no luck anywhere so far.
I am working on setting up a Microsoft 365 Copilot ServiceNow Knowledge connector in the MS 365 admin center. With the connector set up and the initial crawl finished this is what I see:
The count of Items indexed is correct, and the documentation for this connector setup provides helpful instructions for how to validate this: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftsearch/servicenow-knowledge-admin-setup#identify-item-cou...
However, I am confused by the Users number shown. We use Entra ID provisioning for users in ServiceNow, and the number of active users being synced is several thousand. We used the ME-ID option for the user mapping when setting up this connector. We do have some users in ServiceNow that are not synced from Entra, and they account for the 88 User and group errors shown (these are all users that don't exist in Entra so the mapping failed). But we should have far more than 68 users that can be successfully mapped.
My question in a nutshell is, what does that Users number represent exactly? The only specific documentation I have found that addresses this question is this: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftsearch/connector-view-details#view-index-status
There it says that the Users is the "Number of users successfully mapped." I originally assumed that this would mean the total number of users in our ServiceNow instance which could be mapped to users in Entra ID, but the number I'm seeing doesn't seem to reflect that.
For a little more background our connector setup, we are using Basic Authentication, we're limiting content permissions only to the people with access to the data source, and we are using the Advanced flow option for evaluating permissions.
Everything else about the connector seems to be working fine. The only errors I see are the expected user mapping failures for users that are local to ServiceNow. The count of indexed Items is correct. And initial testing of user access using the Index Browser seems to indicate permissions are being evaluated correctly. I am just hesitant to call the connector setup a success because I can't validate if the Users number is correct.
