issue with a dashbaord not filtering new widget

Hi All, 
I hope I got the proper forum.
I have an issue with a dashboard. This dashboard was created before I joined the company, and I was asked to add another widget.
The dashboard has a filter for the created date, and all the widgets are updating based on that filter.
The new widget I added (based on a new report I created) is not getting updated according to the filter and shows data from inception. 
I checked the widget and compared the reports for the other widget, and they have nothing indicating they connected to the created date filter.
How do I get the new widget to also be filtered by the created date?

Created date filter on dashboard looks like interactive filter.

Edit your new Widget ->  check the "Follow interactive filter"
