I'm a little confused in how the alm_asset records are stored. My understanding is that each record within this table is a unique asset, for example a HP laptop with serial number HP12345, a Dell Laptop with a serial number D323811, where each will have its own location, assigned_to user, and so on.
However, I have also found that in our instance of ServiceNow we have asset records where the quantity > 1.
Is this to be expected? If so, can anyone explain why?

Hi @SB87 ,
The number of items this asset represents. An asset has a quantity of one unless one or more of these points are true.
- If the asset is a consumable, the quantity is unrestricted because consumables are tracked in groups.
- If the asset is pre-allocated, the quantity is unrestricted when the Model category and Model values are defined and Substate is set to Pre-allocated.
