Hello,
We are looking to utilise Visual Task Boards as another means of giving our teams a way of managing there queues.
It's currently setup to look at Incidents and group the vertical lanes by 'State'.
Would it be possible to group this by 'Department' which would be a drill down field of 'On Behalf Of'? I am presuming I would need to dot walk this but as the 'Department' field is not available on the Incident record I am not sure if this is possible?
Thank You in Advance!

Hi Alex,
I worked it out! I created a report, added the column that I wanted to see (On Behalf Of > Department) and the right clicked on the field in the report, and selected 'Show Visual Task Board' and it created the VTB as required.
This is a great way of getting around the vertical lane restrictions when the field is not available.
Thanks, Michael.

Hi Michael,
I'm not 100% sure if this is what you are after but you could always create a custom reference field on your incident table called 'Department' then you would be able to select this on your VTB.
This would give you something like this:
However, I believe VTBs work best when set up for each individual team as it is a way to monitor work. If you are looking to monitor work being conducted across your whole business then perhaps a dashboard and reporting would be more suitable.
Hope this helps
Alex

I tried this, and it created a Visual Task Board, but it is a flexible board (I want a Guided Board).
I added a custom string field to the sc_task table called Sprint cycle. It shows on the catalog tasks, but I cannot get it to show on my Visual Task Boards even though there are other similar custom string fields that are showing just fine. And that seem to be built the same way. Even if I convert it to a Guided board by selecting a vertical lane field, it will not show me the Sprint cycle field to select for the swimlanes.
