I am pharmacist, but want to change my carrier in the IT field. Where to start if my goal is to get a good job?

I’m a ServiceNow trainer and happy to share my thoughts with anyone beginning their ServiceNow journey.

ServiceNow is growing rapidly in both breadth and depth. The best way to start is by earning the CSA (Certified System Administrator) certification, which builds a solid foundation in platform fundamentals, terminology, and core modules. Once you gain hands-on experience through CSA, you can decide your next learning path.

Employers value professionals with multi-module expertise, so after completing CSA, consider exploring areas like ITSM, GRC, HRSD, CSM, or SecOps to broaden your portfolio.

Currently, the training is free, which is a great opportunity — though the real challenge lies in gaining hands-on experience. To overcome this, spend at least 1–2 hours a day engaging with the ServiceNow Community — read discussions, answer questions, and share your insights to strengthen your understanding and confidence.

If your goal is to become a developer, focus on building scripting skills using resources available on developer.servicenow.com. Regular practice will enhance your technical expertise.

Start with the CSA and then choose your direction based on your interests — whether as an Admin, Developer, Business Analyst, Change Manager, or Project Manager. A strong foundation will give you the flexibility to explore any of these paths.

As you are Pharmacist  and interested in ServiceNow Learning path, My suggestion would be 

1. First Go through Welcome to ServiceNow course so that you can smoothly navigate within the tool

2. Obtain Certification: 

The Certified System Administrator (CSA) is the most sought-after prerequisite for other ServiceNow certifications.  Complete  course : ServiceNow Administration Fundamentals prior to do certification.

• Utilize Community Resources:
• Personal Developer Instance (PDI): Join the ServiceNow developer program to get a free, fully functional environment to practice troubleshooting and development.
• ServiceNow University: Access structured lessons and certification preparation courses on the NOW learning portal/ServiceNow University.
• Networking: Engage with the official ServiceNow community forums and LinkedIn groups to connect with  industry professionals
• Follow Career journey Path for further grow (role wise) in your ServiceNow project

3. Once your CSA is done, Complete Health care courses within ServiceNow University

 a. Healthcare and Life Sciences EMR Help Implementation 

 b.Delivery accreditation - healthcare and life sciences 

 c. Healthcare and Life Sciences (HCLS) Service Management Implementer 

 d. Healthcare and Life Sciences Management with CSM Professional Suite 

 c.  suite certification - healthcare and life sciences management professional  

      You will achieve Suite cert on health care once you have  following certification or accreditation.

Mainline Certification: CIS-CSM

Accreditations:

• Healthcare and Life Sciences

Micro-Certifications:

•  Platform Analytics
• Predictive Intelligence
• Virtual Agent

4. Apply for Project opportunities on Healthcare domain. As you will be completed CSA, you can work in domain including Healthcare.
