We’re introducing RiseUp with ServiceNow, a global career development program designed to skill 1 million people worldwide on the Now Platform® by 2024. 

This program will lower barriers and create more opportunities for people from all backgrounds, experiences, and ambitions to enter the high-growth tech world.

As part of the program, we introduced four personas: the System Administrator, the Implementation Specialist, the Business Process Analyst, and the Application Developer. For each of those roles we’ve created a learning path to follow. In this month’s blog, we take a look at each of these learning paths and break down the training and certification that is part of each path.

 

System Administrator:

 

  • Welcome to ServiceNow: Is a three-hour on-demand course that you can start with to learn the basics of ServiceNow, like the UI, how to navigate, how to set up filters and lists, and more.
  • ServiceNow Administration Fundamentals: ServiceNow Administration Fundamentals is a three-day course taught both as Instructor-Led Training (in-person) and Virtual Instructor-Led Training (virtual) in time zones throughout the world. The course is also available on-demand. During the class you learn relevant Administrator knowledge, like adding fields to a form, setting up reports, working with update sets, an introduction to scripting, working with tables, and much more.  
  • CSA Certification: Once the ServiceNow Administration Fundamentals class is completed and you feel ready, you can take on the exam to become a Certified System Administrator. Per IDC study (The Benefit of ServiceNow Certifications to Your Career) 73% of ServiceNow Certified Administrators say that the certificate has made a positive difference in their career. That shows that this certification and ServiceNow certifications in general can be a boost to your career growth.
  • ServiceNow Advanced Administration: The Advanced Administration course builds on the Administration Fundamentals but covers some topics in more technical detail, plus new topics like debugging tools, ServiceNow integrations, platform health and maintenance, and more. This two-day course is available as ILT and on-demand.

 

Application Developer:

 

  • Welcome to ServiceNow
  • ServiceNow Administration Fundamentals
  • CSA Certification
  • Scripting in ServiceNow Fundamentals: This three-day course covers the scripting options on the Now Platform and sets the baseline for every Developer. It goes over UI Policies, UI Action, Client Scripts, Business Rules, ScriptIncludes and more. It is available as Instructor-Led and on-demand.
  • Application Development Fundamentals: This training is all about using Now Platform features to build your own applications. You’ll be working through a checklist of considerations for application creation, including decisions such as creating an application table vs. extending an existing table, and determining how users will interact with the application. It is available as a three-day Instructor-Led and on-demand course.
  • CAD Certification: Once the Application Development Fundamentals class is completed and you feel ready you can take on the exam to become a Certified Application Developer.

 

Business Process Analyst:

 

  • Welcome to ServiceNow
  • Get started with Now Create: Now Create is an intuitive user experience with prescriptive methodology, leading practices and accelerators guiding ServiceNow implementations, upgrades and more. You’ll learn the “what” and “how” about Now Create in the 48 minute on-demand course.
  • Business Process Consultant Best Practices for ServiceNow: Explore the role that a Business Process Consultant (BPC) plays in a ServiceNow implementation (product-line agnostic) with an emphasis on the activities and components of the process workshops. Understand the role and responsibilities of a BPC compared to other workshop participants. This is a 2 hour and 40 minute long on-demand training.
  • Product Line Fundamentals: We offer various product lines on the Now Platform like ITSM, HR, CSM, ITOM, SPM and more. Each of these product lines comes with a 2–3-day long fundamentals training. During the fundamental trainings you learn about the best practices and the out of the box process for the respective product line and how to use the product line the most efficient way. These trainings will give you a good understanding of what are the capabilities of each product line.

 

Implementation Specialist:

 

  • Welcome to ServiceNow
  • ServiceNow Administration Fundamentals
  • CSA Certification
  • ServiceNow Platform Implementation: This training is aligned to our Now Create phases (which will be covered during the training) to successfully implement the Now Platform. The training covers the whole implementation lifecycle from project kickoff to go-live with a real-world examples.
  • Product Line Fundamentals: We offer various product lines on the Now Platform like ITSM, HR, CSM, ITOM, SPM and more. Each of these product lines comes with a 2–3-day long fundamentals training. During the fundamental trainings you learn about the best practices and the out of the box process for the respective product line and how to use the product line the most efficient way. These trainings will give you a good understanding of what are the capabilities of each product line.
  • Product Line Implementation/Advanced: Once you understood the fundamentals of your chosen product line, it’s time to take a closer look at the technical details. I personally like to refer this to a car analogy. The Fundamentals class gives you the ability to understand the theoretical part behind driving a car, you’ll be able to drive it, but if anything is broken you need someone else to fix it. To stay in the analogy the Implementation/Advanced course is the look under the hood you understand the technical part behind why your car is driving the way it does and what you could possibly do to tune it.
  • CIS Certification: Once the Product Line Fundamentals and (if applicable) the Product Line Implementation/Advanced class are completed, and you feel ready, you can take on the exam to become a Certified Implementation Specialist for your respective Product Line.
