Hello ServiceNow community! 👋
I’m Urvashi Jain, currently working as a ServiceNow Developer with 7+ years of experience. Today, I want to share my journey into ServiceNow, how I built my foundation with multiple certifications, and why I believe continuous learning is the most powerful way to grow in this platform.
How I started with ServiceNow
Back in 2018, As a fresher I got introduced to ServiceNow during an ITSM project migration. The low-code platform concept and its direct impact on business processes fascinated me.
I quickly realised that to become proficient, I needed structured learning. That’s when I decided to pursue the Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification.
⸻
My certification milestones so far
✅CSA (Certified System Administrator)
• My first stepping stone into understanding platform basics, administration, and core features.
• It gave me the confidence to take on configuration and implementation tasks independently.
✅CAD (Certified Application Developer)
• This deepened my knowledge of scripting, scoped apps, and reusable design.
• I highly recommend CAD for any developer who wants to build scalable solutions in ServiceNow.
✅CIS-ITSM (Certified Implementation Specialist – ITSM)
• Helped me master ITIL processes within ServiceNow.
• Learning modules on Incident, Problem, Change, and Request Management with real-life implementation scenarios enhanced my solutioning skills drastically.
✅15+ Micro-Certifications
Some of them include:
• Micro-Certification - Welcome to ServiceNow
• Now Assist Executive Micro Cert
• Micro-Certification - Performance Analytics
• Micro-Certification - Predictive Intelligence
• Micro-Certification - Flow Designer
• Micro-Certification - Automated Test Framework
• Micro-Certification - Service Portal
• Micro-Certification - Application Developer Process Creator
• Micro-Certification - Agile and Test Management Implementation
• Micro-Certification - Integration Hub
• UI Builder Micro-Certification
• Micro-Certification - Citizen Developer Process Creator
• Micro-Certification - CMDB Health
• Micro-Certification - Virtual Agent
• Micro-Certification - Configure the CMDB
… and many more.
These micro-certifications helped me gain targeted expertise quickly and explore areas like AI, automation, and advanced integrations, keeping my skillset relevant.
⸻
Why I believe certifications are worth it
💡They give structured knowledge.
Learning in a planned, module-wise manner avoids scattered understanding.
💡They build confidence.
Every badge and certification validated my efforts and motivated me to take on more challenging tasks at work.
💡They accelerate career growth.
Certifications helped me stand out during appraisals, internal movements, and client interviews.
⸻
My advice to aspiring ServiceNow professionals
1. Start with CSA to build your base.
2. Pursue CAD if you aim for development roles.
3. Choose CIS certifications aligned with your current project (ITSM, HRSD, CSM, etc.).
4. Take micro-certifications regularly to stay updated on new features and keep learning momentum alive.
5. Most importantly, apply your learning in real projects to retain knowledge effectively.
Thank you for reading my journey. If you are starting yours, remember that every small certification, learning, or solved problem adds up. Stay curious and keep building!
