Our most recent instructor-led training to convert to an on demand, available at any time, from anywhere on any device, free of charge is Project Portfolio Management (PPM) Fundamentals.  Project Portfolio Management is the application of methods, tools, and techniques to achieve new capabilities, meet demands, respond to organizational changes, or realize a new opportunity.  Project Portfolio Management provides a simplified, team-oriented approach to Project Portfolio Management and IT development by combining several individual applications.  These applications include Demand Management, Project Management, Portfolio Management, and Resource Management.

You will be introduced to the Project Portfolio Management (PPM) application and will learn to efficiently manage the project lifecycle from initiation to closeout.  Concepts covered include converting a submitted idea into a demand, assessing a demand and converting it to a project; creating a project with tasks and financials; creating, submitting and extending resource plans; allocating resources, and creating programs and portfolios. 

The five-module learning path includes Overview of Project Portfolio Management, Demand Management, Project Management, Resource Management, and Program and Portfolio Management. The course provides a variety of activities including infographics, videos, interactive learning, guided simulations, and an opportunity to complete step-by-step labs in an instance. 

Project Portfolio Management (PPM) Fundamentals: Introduction provides an overview of demand management, project management, resource management, and program/portfolio management.  The course will define the purpose of the PPM application, review the roles within the PPM application and the students will be introduced to the scenario that will be used throughout this PPM Fundamentals series of courses.  

Project Portfolio Management (PPM) Fundamentals: Demand Management will teach you how to submit a demand, screen demands and create a project from a demand.  You’ll learn how to define Demand states and features, identify how to assess and qualify demands, and examine the demand workbench and roadmap. 

Project Portfolio Management (PPM) Fundamentals: Project Management where you will learn how to create a project, apply templates, update the project form, create tasks, and manage a project. Additionally, identifying and creating Risks, Issues, Decisions, Actions and Changes, planning projects through the planning console, and managing projects through project workspace and project workbench is also covered. 

Project Portfolio Management (PPM) Fundamentals: Resource Management teaches you how to request resources for demands and projects as a demand or project manager through the resource workbench and resource form. Resource Managers will learn how to view resource requests, analyze resource availability, and allocate resources.  You will be able to select the appropriate request type and determine hours, planned days, or the total number of full-time equivalent resources needed and select the resource type as a group, user or role and identify the member preference as all members, any member or specific member. Additionally, you will learn to analyze resource availability through capacity planning and resource workbench, differentiate between hard and soft allocated resources, update rates using rate override feature, and extend and approve resource plans. 

Project Portfolio Management (PPM) Fundamentals: Program and Portfolio Management focuses on how to create programs and portfolios and manage them.  You’ll learn how to create a program and portfolio, set budget targets for a portfolio, associate demands and projects to programs and portfolios, and identify three models for programs and portfolios.
