Any product that accurately discovers software installations on a computer in environment can be used as a source of software installation data ? True/False

This is a great example of where the CIS-SAM will throw you curveballs. What it is actually asking is if you can connect any source. You can always upload data to a table as long as the data is formatted correctly. You can technically put in any installation record you want in the Software Installations table through an upload. However, that's not what it's asking (without telling you that's not what it's asking). There are only a few sources that can be connected that populate that table, SCCM and ServiceNow MID Server discovery being two. There are a few other out-of-the-box connections that can be made, but require additional plugins.

So the answer is false for the sake of ServiceNow's intention, even though in practice the statement, as worded, is true.

I am listing the ones which i have done:-

1. servicenow discovery itself

2. symantec database integration

3. Altiris

4. solarwinds

There could be many more but servicenow discovery and altiris was enough for the software part .

Hope its helpful

Anshu

Thanks for your valuable response.

Based on this, answer to a true/false should be "True" as per my understanding, is it right?

About to attend CIS-SAm exam tomorrow.
