Hello, We had a 'blanket' all must register for the CIS-DF exam before 6/30. I was in my first week and registered - not knowing anything. This is not my area of expertise. A few weeks later, my boss said I don't need it and that is not my focus. Apparently, I can't un-register from the exam. Is it true that my only options are to take it and fail or just no show? That seems a bit odd to me.

Hi @kerrsol
Nothing to worry you have 90 days to take exam so you can prepare and then go for exam. Un- registered is not possible now. Better prepare and go for exam.

Hi @kerrsol
There is no need to un-register for CIS-DF. But once you have registered, you have 90 days time to reschedule.
why it becomes so important now?
- This CIS - Data Foundations certification will be FREE until June 2026!
- New candidates beginning an ITAM, ITOM, ITSM, or SecOps certification path must: Pass CIS – Data Foundations (CMDB and CSDM) before registering or scheduling any of the seven dependent exams (ITSM, HAM, SAM, Discovery, SecOps VR ServiceMapping).
If you want to get experienced in Servicenow, Will suggest go for it.
You can take help from my articles:

Hello @kerrsol ,
Not at all ! I’d suggest not to unregister or skip it. Even with just a week of focused preparation, you can build enough understanding of the key concepts to pass.
I can share a condensed study plan and cheat sheet that highlights the must-know topics. With that, you’ll be able to prepare efficiently and walk into the exam with confidence.
I have passed CIS-DF. I would be happy to share my experience on my journey throughout preparation :

Hello @kerrsol ,
I don't think that's the right decision. As far as I know, you cannot unregister for the exam. Instead, I would recommend preparing for it and giving it your best .
The preparation itself will help you build a strong foundation in CMDB and CSDM, which will be valuable throughout your ServiceNow journey.
You can also search the ServiceNow Community for CIS-DF exam experiences shared by other members. Many people have posted their preparation strategies and exam experiences, and you'll find that while the exam is scenario-based, it's definitely manageable with good preparation. Focus on understanding the concepts rather than memorizing them.
Good luck with your preparation!
If this helps you then mark it as helpful and accept as solution.
Regards,
Aditya
