Unable to Pass the Servicenow Admin Cert

I have taken the ServiceNow Admin Cert twice and have failed both times. I'm getting frustrated with failing the cert test. Not sure if I should just quit. Study the online course (twice), watch YouTube videos, flash cards and bought some practice test. Study up on all the areas that I got low % on the first test. I was getting 80-90% on all my practice test. Did about 20 different practice test. So I felt very prepared. But how wrong I was. The questions were way harder than they should be. Some of the question where not covered in the online course or on the practice test. Also I really hate the multiple choice answer questions. Some of them you have to pick 3-5 correct answers in a giant list. Which if you miss one answers you don't get the point. Which 10 of the 60 are multiple choice answer questions. I'm not sure what to study. There isn't much online other from the online course. If there is something online to study, it's really old. Can't get a Job in ServiceNow with out the cert. I'm not sure what to do.

I took the Online Fundamentals course $300 (plus have 5 years ServiceNow exp.) but could not pass test with materials provided. Questions on exam did not match study content by more than 10% to 15%.

It sounds like you did all the right things to prepare for you test. I agree that the certification exams do not test you on what you learned in the course. I have a couple of suggestions:

1. Familiarize yourself with test-taking strategies if you haven't already. The strategies used for the SAT or GRE help here too. For example, for multiple choice eliminate all the answers that you know are wrong, then choose from what is left. Read the question and answers very carefully. Some of the answers come down to one word which can be tricky.

2. Find good flashcards on quizlet and/or chercher. For every question you get wrong, make a flashcard for yourself and study those until you have them memorized. Here are some good flashcards:

https://quizlet.com/class/2490040/

https://quizlet.com/29610345/servicenow-certified-system-administration-flash-cards/

I know a number of people who have taken the test a few times before they passed. It's not you - the exam is very tricky. Best of luck!

Hi there,

About those quized, quizlets, practice test, etc: just skip it. Most are outdated, and some even contain incorrect answers (also just opened one of the quizlets BillieB mentioned, first card shown... outdated answers...). So you might think you are doing a good job on studying those, though in reality...
And with studying just questions like those, what are you really learning that way actually?

I do wonder, with the On Demand course, you probably don't get the course e-Book, reading your description? For most exams, (almost) all answers can be (literally) found in the e-Book. Only for some exams, questions on related products might be asked (for example on Discovery / Event Mgt / Service Mapping).

Did you also get feedback on exam results? With percentage per topic? I did see 2 or 3 times now people posting topic score percentages when they failed the CSA exam. Maybe new since a few months, haven't seen this for other exams.

Kind regards,
Mark

I agree with you that most of the quized, quizlets practice test are out of date. But practice test are the only way to gauge if your ready for the test. I'm not a strong test taker. So it's an opportunity to see how well I would do on test. If I got a question wrong, I would go online and research more about it.

Not sure what E-book your talking about. Didn't see anything in ServiceNow Fundamentals about a E-book.

Here is the % from my first test.

Topic Level Scoring:
Topic 1: User Interface & Navigation: 41%
Topic 2: Collaboration: 70%
Topic 3: Database Administration: 41%
Topic 4: Self-Service & Process Automation: 69%
Topic 5: Intro to Scripting & Application Tools: 62%

Here is the % from my second test.

Topic 1: User Interface & Navigation: 83%
Topic 2: Collaboration: 60%
Topic 3: Database Administration: 41%
Topic 4: Self-Service & Process Automation: 53%
Topic 5: Intro to Scripting & Application Tools: 37%

It took me 6 hours to finally get into the first test, due to webassessor being awful. I still did better on my first test, then my second test. Spent a whole month doing the online course again and spending more time in Service now Development. Making sure I understood each Topics. If felt like the second test had harder question then the first test.

Also I'm visual learner. Really wish someone would make a full course of ServiceNow on linkedin learning.
