Anyone got experience of using IRE (Identification & Reconciliation Engine)?

Hi!  I've been looking at IRE, the Identification & Reconciliation Engine, and I've got a number of questions about how it works and behaves in actual use.  These are things I just can't find answers to in the documentation.

In future we'll be using the scripted IRE but at this stage I'm looking at IRE in the context of transform maps i.e. when calling identifyAndReconcile() in script include CMDBTransformUtil from within an onBefore script in a transform map.

If you have experience of using IRE from transform maps in anger, not just in theory, and would be willing to share your experience, that would be really helpful.  In that case, I'll post the actual questions in here.

Many thanks
Michael

Hi mbourla - have you read or googled about it? You may find a lot of info about CMDB Identification and Reconciliation.

Thanks, Rafael.  Yes I've read all I can find about it, and have been trying it out myself for some weeks now. Over the years we have been using ServiceNow, we've built customised solutions to handle multiple data feeds into the CMDB, but we're now looking to revert to use the OOTB IRE instead.

What I've found is that when used in transform maps, there are things it does differently (and often worse) than how normal transform maps work (i.e. with coalescing etc).  It would be really useful to speak with people who not just know how IRE works in theory, but are actually using it for real in the context of transform maps.  Both to confirm that what I'm seeing is just how IRE does in fact behave, and also what sort of additional BAU checks they have had to put in place to mitigate the shortcomings I'm seeing.

Michael
