Building a Logic-Based Puzzle App in ServiceNow Feasible or Overkill?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been exploring ServiceNow beyond the usual ITSM workflows and wanted to experiment with something a bit different as a learning project.

Recently, I got inspired by logic-based word games like Letter Boxed, where users connect letters under certain constraints to form valid words. It made me wonder whether something similar could be built within ServiceNow mainly as a way to better understand UI design, scripting, and user interaction on the platform.

So far, I’m considering

Using Service Portal or UI Builder for a simple interactive interfaceCreating a script include or business logic to validate inputs

  • Storing sessions or attempts using custom tables
  • Possibly adding some gamification (scores, attempts, etc.)

I know ServiceNow is primarily designed for enterprise workflows, so I’m unsure if this is a practical idea or just a fun experiment.

I’d really appreciate your thoughts:

Has anyone tried building something “non-traditional” like a small game or interactive tool in ServiceNow?

Would you recommend Service Portal or UI Builder for something lightweight like this?Any performance or design limitations I should be aware of?

I’m mainly doing this to deepen my understanding of the platform, so any guidance or real-world experiences would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!
