Hi ,
I currently hold CIS-ITSM, CAD, and CSA certifications. I recently heard about the ServiceNow Data Foundations (CMDB & CSDM) certification and wanted to understand the eligibility criteria.
Is it mandatory for those who already have CIS-ITSM to complete this certification? Also, will existing certifications expire if this exam is not completed?
Any guidance would be helpful.

Prepare yourself for the CIS-DF certification. June 30, 2026 is the last date to take the exam free of cost.
If you do not complete CIS-DF this year:
- You will first need to complete CIS-DF before appearing for any of the following certification exams.as it has become perquisite of following exams.
CIS - Discovery
CIS - Hardware Asset Management
CIS - IT Service Management
CIS - Security Incidence Response
CIS - Service Mapping
CIS - Software Asset Management
CIS - Vulnerability Response
2. After June 30, you will have to pay the CIS-DF exam fee, which is $450 + applicable taxes.
(Refer: KB0013317 Cost of Mainline certification exams )
3. If you do not complete CIS-DF by this year end, your CIS-ITSM will be expired, even after your Delta is upto date
You can check my blogs to get an idea about CIS-DF. It is a concept-based exam.

Hi @AkhilaPajjuri,
Yes, it's mandatory and needs to be completed by the end of the year. Until the end of June, it's for free, and you don't need to spend the fee to take the exam.
Hope this helps!
