Help! My Developer Instance is Being Retired – How to Keep It & Backup My Work?

Hi everyone,

I received a message from ServiceNow saying:

"Please save your work and release the current instance by the end of April 6th, 2025. The instance has technical issues and must be retired."

I’ve spent a lot of time configuring my instance, including:

  • Incident Management: Custom groups, categories, and subcategories

  • Virtual Agent: Configured chatbot, topics, and flows

  • Other Customizations: Various settings I don't want to lose

I want to know:

  1. Is there any way to keep my current instance and prevent it from being retired?

  2. If I must move to a new instance, what’s the best way to back up and restore all my work (groups, categories, chatbot configurations, etc.)?

I really don’t want to lose everything. Any guidance on how to save and migrate my work would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Hi @yassb ,

1. No, you can't keep your current.

2. always create backup of your work either in repository or by exporting update sets.
