Service Portal to Employee Center Migration: Strategy, Roadblocks, and Artifacts

Hi Community,
We are preparing to transition from our standard Service Portal to the Employee Center. If you have done this upgrade, I would love your advice on a few things:
  1. Is it better to deploy this in phases or all at once?
  2. What precautions should we take, and what major roadblocks did you face?
  3. What critical things must we consider before starting the upgrade (beyond just installing the plugins)?
  4. Do you have any checklists, taxonomy templates, or design artifacts you could share?
Any tips or shared resources would be a huge help to our team. Thanks!

Any migration Always can be done phase wise.  In that case Communication is very critical. All stakeholders should be communicated how much migration you are doing per phase.

Have you personally gone through this migration before? If so, I would love to know how you broke your project down into phases. Also, if you have any templates or migration artifacts you could share, that would be greatly appreciated!

While I have not worked on a complete SharePoint (SP) to ESC migration, I was involved in developing a customized portal (from scratch) in collaboration with the design team.

 

I contributed to the portal's customization and implementation, and we successfully deployed it to the production environment in a phased manner, ensuring a smooth rollout across each phase.
