Upgrade timing for end of life versions

When a version is end of life due to a new family release, how long after the new family is released do we have to upgrade our instances? The end of life communication is fairly vague and states the following: "In September, when we deliver the Now Platform Paris release, we will end support for the Now Platform New York release family." Is there a certain amount of time we have after Paris is released to move off of New York?

Note: This question also applies to other family releases as well, not just New York to Paris.

We got the same notice. If you go into HI they have the upgrade already scheduled for late October. Granted we'll adjust that around the Paris release and what patch level they are on. Prefer to wait until atleast patch 2 for the bugs to be worked out.

I'd check your HI portal and see what they have scheduled for you.

Hi Justin,

As a best practice, we should always plan well in advance before the version release and start pre-upgrade activities on Upgrade instance for testing purpose.

Sometimes upgrade took a long path due to organizational process & policies and cost. In that case we should think to skip one version and jump on latest.

Please refer this KB article for more details.

Thanks,

We were on Madrid when Orlando came out.  ServiceNow will raise your upgrade requests automatically on Hi when you go out of support.  You can re-schedule these upgrades like you can do for all normal patching etc.  Though you might struggle to get an answer beyond "How about you upgrade and try to recreate the fault?" from support while you're pushing the upgrades out.

I happened across this post after it crossed my mind that I anticipated our New York instance reaching end-of-life during Q3. However, I have not received any official notification of this and am actually currently scheduled to be updated to New York Patch 9a in early September.

Has there been a delay to the End-of-Life support for New York? The last email I received concerning End-of-Life was in was from August 14th and it only discussed them winding down my personal developer instance that was still using Madrid due to the early access to Paris. However, no communications about New York EOL.
