Zurich Upgrade from Xanadu: Specific Issues Encountered

We recently completed an upgrade from Xanadu to Zurich and haven't experienced any significant problems during our post-upgrade testing. We're interested in learning about the experiences of others who have made this transition.

Our Setup:

  • Performed a straightforward upgrade through the Update Center
  • Validated key ITSM/CMDB workflows, Business Rules, and custom applications—all functioning normally so far.

Looking for Community Input:

  • Have you upgraded from Xanadu to Zurich and run into any challenges? Examples might include scripting incompatibilities, Upgrade Monitor freezes, permission/admin role issues, problems with decision tables or flows, or third-party app conflicts
  • Which patches or hotfixes have you needed to implement post-upgrade?
  • Are there any preventive measures or workarounds you'd recommend based on your experience?
  • How has overall system stability been for you after the upgrade?

Would appreciate any insights from those who've been through this process. Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Siddhesh Agnihotri.

Hi my Friend

We completed a Xanadu → Zurich upgrade recently and had a largely smooth experience.

Summary of what we observed:

  • Core ITSM and CMDB functionality remained stable post-upgrade.

  • Most customizations migrated cleanly; a few older client/UI scripts needed minor refactoring due to stricter behavior.

  • Flows and decision tables worked overall, but Zurich enforces tighter validation, so some cleanup was required.

  • No Upgrade Monitor freezes, though it surfaced more informational warnings than before.

  • Minor role/permission adjustments were needed, especially around Workspace/UI Builder access.

Patches & stability:

  • Applied the first Zurich patch early; no emergency hotfixes required.

  • System stability has been solid after initial cache and job normalization.

My Recommendations:

  • Review Upgrade Monitor warnings carefully.

  • Regression-test client scripts, CMDB logic, approvals, and integrations.

  • Revalidate third-party apps even if they pass pre-upgrade testing.

Overall, Zurich feels like a low-risk, incremental upgrade if your customizations are reasonably current.
