Catalog item and record producer roles

Hi Community,

Can you tell me the best practice on assigning roles to catalog items and record producers?

I cannot find anything in the documentation regarding roles, and it implies that teams should use user criteria and not roles for this function.

Hi @AnthonyMull ,

what are you trying to achieve? If this in relation to who has access and who doesn’t, then you can either utilize user criteria or subscribers based on service offering.

Thanks, that makes sense. I actually knew the difference between Knowledge Management and Service Catalog, but it just wasn’t in mind when I read the question. Your explanation helped me connect it back — KM uses Can/Not Contribute and Read for articles, while SC items and record producers are simply Available for or Not Available for. Appreciate the reminder!
