In the Tokyo release, you can brand your Slack conversational integration! You can find the official Tokyo documentation here.
Prerequisites
- Instance on Tokyo release or later
- Admin roles for your instance
- Virtual Agent plugin installed (com.glide.cs.chatbot)
- Slack conversational integration installed (store app, August 2022 release)
- Omni-experience Standard Feature set is installed (store app, August 2022 release)
- Admin role for your Slack workspace
- Global scope
Process
1. After installing the above mentioned plugins, navigate to the Messaging App Integration page to install the Slack Conversational integration. You can see instructions for this via YouTube or article.
- Ensure that the system property: com.glide.cs.enable_slack_branding is set to "True".
2. After the Slack integration is successfully installed, click the "Configure" button next to the workspace name.
3. Here, you can edit the Slack bot name and icon image. You can either upload an image or use an image URL. Then click 'Save'.
4. The bot name and icon has now been configured in the Slack chat window. You'll notice that the bot name on the left-hand panel still says "Now Virtual Agent". To configure this, log into your Slack workspace admin center and click "Manage Apps". This opens up the Slack App Directory.
5. Click into the "Now Virtual Agent" app and click "Configuration". Scroll down to Bot User, and click Edit next to the current name to update the bot name that appears on the left panel. It's a recommended practice to match the bot name you provided in Step 3.

Note: Unfortunately it is currently not possible to update the bot icon on the left panel or top header. That would require a self-customized Slack integration app and is not covered by ServiceNow.
You may have to wait a moment and exit/log out of your Slack app and re-open Slack for the changes to take effect.
