Record selection in a Record Action node in a Topic Block

I'm trying to create a Record Action node within a Topic Block, but the only variable available from the "Record" drop-down list is User:

This is despite the fact that the number of the record that I actually want to update has been passed through via the Topic Block's Input Parameters:

Why isn't the variable Create INC (which will have a value such as INC00012345) available from that drop-down list? What am I missing...?

Actually I've figured it out:

I needed the Input Parameter to be a Reference (Incident) rather than a String.
And then in Input Mapping, I select Input Variables > Create INC (reference).
