This isn't a question more of a series of notes that may help others during the core skills path. The design studio part was fine although I never did get it to upload a photo (I couldn't get the combo box to update with the file name in the Open dialog) so I skipped that. I notice others have had this issue. Also I don't have excel on this machine so I used tabled data in a pdf instead (Solved: Help using RPA Design Studio: getting tabled data ... - ServiceNow Community)
Moving on to the Connecting, Publishing etc part I had a few errors (could be ommisions in the text, could be I got distracted and missed a bit):
- My SN user didn't have the correct roles (actually I was lazy and did it all under my admin login but this was still the case). While you are there add the robot permission - see later for error if this is omitted.
- I needed to add a robot license distribution record in RPA Hub

- I needed to create a Bot Process Configuration

- Basic authentication not supported:
- No access to connect robot
- Missing credentials when publishing the bot

I actually have HyperV on this machine but noooo, let's just do it here with my creds... I'm going to log out now and stare at a login screen for 2mins. 🙃
