we are testing the SharePoint Connector and trying to undersand What Drives SharePoint Search Results on the ESC Portal.
There’s what we need to understand and validate:
Metadata & Page Elements That Influence Search
- Hyperlink/SP Link Name – Does the name of the hyperlink itself contribute to search relevance?
- Page Title
- Page Description
- Tags / Managed Metadata
- Content within Web Parts (e.g., text in Hero, Quick Links, etc.)
Document Indexing
- Document Title – Is the file name (e.g., “Employee Guide - Performance Reviews.pdf”) indexed?
- Document Content – Are words inside documents (PDF, XLS, PPT, DOCX) searchable?
- File Metadata – Are properties like author, keywords, or custom metadata fields indexed?
