API Insights brings together your organization's API data with the power of the ServiceNow® platform, offering a centralized API inventory to facilitate various lifecycle and management activities. 

 

Let's also understand what API Insights is not.  It is not designed to replace existing API management tools like Mulesoft, Kong, Apigee, Postman, or others.  However, unlike many of those platforms, API Insights normalizes an organization's API inventory from across different data sources into a common data model in the CMDB.  For example, your organization might use Apigee as their API gateway technology.  They may also monitor the environment with Dynatrace to collect information on web requests.  On top of these two technologies, the organization may also use Noname Security or Traceable.ai to identify vulnerabilities on APIs being used within the network.  While each of these technologies provides unique operational value, they each represent that data in their own way with varying degrees of fidelity and access.

 

Upon the initial release, API Insights aims to provide the integrations to ingest the various types of data and provide prescriptive guidance on how to ensure data conformity (driven by AI) for optimal use across the ServiceNow platform.  This will drive better ITSM outcomes by assessing end to end impact of API issues, create faster resolutions when used by SecOps to address vulnerabilities, and provide a complete inventory from which to apply risk and audit policies.  From business context to ownership assignments, API Insights provides configurable settings and workflows so you can have the product conform to how your organization has implemented ServiceNow.
