App Engine Studio License Error in ServiceNow PDI Despite Admin Role

Hello ServiceNow Community,

I am facing an issue while trying to access App Engine Studio in my ServiceNow Personal Developer Instance (PDI). Whenever I try to open App Engine Studio, I receive the following error message:

“You need a valid App Engine Studio license to continue working.”

I have already performed the basic troubleshooting steps, but the issue still persists.

Troubleshooting steps performed:

  • Verified that my PDI is running and accessible.

  • Checked the user role in the Developer Portal and I am only getting Admin role option AES option is not showing.

  • Restarted/refreshed the instance and attempted to access App Engine Studio again.

  • Closed and reopened the browser and retried accessing the application.

  • I was on Australia release and I've changed that to Brazil but getting same issue.

Despite these steps, I am still encountering the same license error.

I am using the ServiceNow Australia release and Brazil and working on a personal learning project to build an IT Equipment Request Management application. I would like to continue developing the application using App Engine Studio.

Could someone please help me understand the following?

  1. Is this error related to an App Engine Studio licensing or entitlement issue on the PDI?

  2. Is there any additional configuration or role assignment required to access App Engine Studio?

  3. Is this a known issue with the Australia release or a temporary problem with the developer instance?

  4. Is there any recommended solution to resolve this issue without losing my existing PDI work?

I would appreciate any guidance or troubleshooting steps from the community.

Thank you in advance for your help!
