Can I send an external email to a client in CRM built on PDI

Hi - I am using AppEngine to build a CRM on my PDI. I'm trying to send a new client a welcome email using the "send email" function.  Is sending an external email limited on our PDI?  I did it successfully on my "instance" while taking the RiseUp program classes.  Thanks in advance for any advice!  Denise

Yes—sending external email is limited on a ServiceNow PDI (Personal Developer Instance).

On most PDIs:

Outbound emails are restricted or disabled for real external delivery
Emails may be:
Logged in System Mailboxes > Outbound
Sent only to a test email address (if configured)
Or completely blocked from leaving the instance
Why this happens
PDIs are shared learning environments, so ServiceNow restricts email sending to prevent

yes, you can send.

By design, newly provisioned PDIs have outbound and inbound emails completely disabled by default to prevent spam.

Reaching out again in regard to sending emails from the PDI.  The blog link provided was from 2022.  I spent hours trying to figure out why the email outbound list did not have any entries. There were no popups or warnings telling you that outbound emails from the PDI are disabled.  Some answers are saying we CAN send in PDIs, and other answers say we CANNOT send or receive.  So how do we test our applications?  Can a SN employee please answer?  Thanks very much, Denise
