Hello,
I'm literally on day 1 of learning about SNow development, and in the very first exercise, creating the very first application on my instance, I get the error message "Unable to create this application. Go back to the create app experience and enter a different scope name. Details: Failed to create templated object, details: This scope is already taken by another application"
I read through some other Community posts about this same error, but none seemed to apply to my situation, though there are many posts. I have attempted changing the name of the application to today's date + the name, my initials + the name, I even tried naming the application "It Doesn't Get Any More Random Than This." There's certainly no application in my instance by that name. I'm not sure where to go from here.

Go to Applications table [sys_scope.LIST] from Application Navigator,
Search in the scope field to make sure the scope you are trying to create do not exist. Create an application with a unique name.
Note, maximum length of scope name is 18 characters and this could be causing the name conflict.
Please refer below link for more information,
If this does not work, see if option#4 in below link helps
If none of the options work, submit a now learning support case from below link
https://learning.servicenow.com/lxp/en/pages/now-learning-help-center?id=nl_kb_home
Typically they respond on same day and help with resolution.
