I hope this message finds you well.
I have a query regarding application development using the App Engine platform within the same ServiceNow account.
Currently, we have an existing application (app1) developed on the App Engine platform. We are planning to develop a second application (app2) on the same platform, targeting a completely different user group and department.
The key requirements are:
- Users of app1 should not have access to app2, and vice versa.
- Both applications (app1 and app2) should have separate dev, stage, and prod environments.
- The separation should ensure complete isolation between the environments for both applications, while still operating within the same ServiceNow account.
Could you please advise:
- Whether this scenario is feasible using ServiceNow and App Engine platform?
- What are the best practices to achieve strict isolation for the applications and their respective environments?
- Can we completely separate the instances of app1 and app2 (including dev, stage, and prod) within the same ServiceNow account?
Looking forward to your expert guidance and recommendations.

Hi @ABMNurunT
My understanding say it is 100% possible. Apps created via AES mainly considered as scope app and purpose of scope is same, to keep 2 apps separate. You can define 2 different roles and ACL in app and give only specific app role to specific user only.
Try the same in PDI and share feedback.
If my response proves useful, please indicate its helpfulness by selecting " Accept as Solution" and " Helpful." This action benefits both the community and me.

This is the correct approach. App Engine Studio creates scoped apps that can be edited outside of AES in Studio or the main Platform UI. The same features and rules for scoped apps apply as it is the same as created it in the old green Studio or the new ServiceNow Studio.
