I guess you are talking about "state" field, that you are unable to change that.
If so there must be a field level write acl. Go through it and see what roles are given there.

If it does not work, enable ACL debug on 'Incident State' field and see which rule is causing the issue,

Hi @ShreenidhiC
checking the ACLs for incident.state and the incident table itself, then confirm the roles your user has. Once you adjust the permissions or add the user to the appropriate group/role (commonly itil), you should be able to update the incident status.
