Hi,
We have a requirement to bulk relate 1000+ CIs to network changes when work is being carried out at a site level. The intended method is to use an API to associate CIs.
My concern is how this would impact performance and whether the change form will slow down with so many CIs related. CIs need to be associated as the upstream impact needs to be assessed. Using dynamic CI groups may not help as it does not relate the individual CIs to the change.
In particular, when the change gets to the Assess state, it carries out numerous checks ie. maintenance windows, conflict detection and upstream impact and at this volume I wonder how we can limit the performance hit.
What would be your recommendation on how to implement this?
Thanks.

Hi @Chaz_
- Avoid using direct form-based manual additions or synchronous API calls for all 1,000 CIs at once. Instead, load the CIs into an Import Set mapped directly to the task_ci table
- Ensure that your rules evaluate business criticality rather than calculating deep impact for every single minor router/switch, significantly speeding up the evaluation
