Almost every company today has or will need some form of Helpdesk/Support/ITSM processes that complements its presence/IT operations. There was a time when a multitude of them relied on solutions like HP Service Center, HP Service Manager, BMC Remedy, JIRA etc. so on. They are still there but as per me not close to ServiceNow. If you see the current trends -ServiceNow is the dominant one which is used by most of the Fortune 100 or 500 companies. And its just not ITSM (IT Service Management). CMDB, ITOM, Discovery, Service Mapping, CSM , HRSD and then again industry specific solutions like Banking, Insurance, Medical Devices, Telecom and so on. You can keep counting them. ServiceNow has grown over the last 10 years and expanded to lot of other modules.
In terms of licensing it could be costly when compared to others but again in terms of features or options it offers they are endless. This has brought in a major demand in terms of skilled resources as well.
Just like AWS, GCP, Azure, Salesforce etc. (endless list again) - Over years of working and having technical expertise gives people the option to delve onto architecture side which is where most of the people make the biggest impact. For me designing scalable, secure, and future-ready solutions that align with both technical best practices and business goals has always been the objective.

I am not a ServiceNow architect, but I have worked with architects on projects. An architect role is about looking at the future of the product and platform.
When you are a junior developer, you usually do what is told to you. But as you gain experience, you start asking questions and giving suggestions — this shows your mindset is evolving.
With more exposure and knowledge, you progress from Junior → Senior → Lead → Architect. At the architect level, you look at the platform as a whole, measure impacts, evaluate options, and then suggest the right technical approach — what should be done, and what should not.
