Hello Folks,
I would like to learn to build and customize workspaces in ServiceNow. Where do I start? If you can suggest me Learning path would be a great help. I thought of learning only UI Builder?
Thanks
Nelson

Hi Nelson,
I recently went through two really helpful resources,
YouTube walkthrough - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYC-uvFaa_8
Next Experience Academy session - https://www.servicenow.com/community/next-experience-events/next-experience-academy-14-how-to-build-...
Here’s the distilled takeaway that might help others starting their workspace journey.
Modern workspaces in ServiceNow are built on the Now Experience framework, and the core tool you’ll use is UI Builder. Both resources emphasize that UI Builder isn’t just a drag‑and‑drop editor — it’s the front‑end layer of a larger architecture that includes components, data resources, and experience configurations.
The main steps to building a workspace from scratch are:
Start with the Workspace Shell: Define the overall experience, navigation, and layout structure.
Use UI Builder to Create Pages: Build landing pages, record pages, and custom views using standard components.
Connect Data Using Data Resources: This is where the workspace becomes functional — you bind tables, APIs, or scripted data to components.
Configure Events & Client Logic: Components can talk to each other through events, enabling dynamic interactions.
Extend with Custom Components (Optional): If the out‑of‑box components don’t meet your needs, you can build your own using the Now Experience Component Framework.
Both videos highlight that the key to success is understanding how data flows into the workspace and how components consume it. Once you grasp that, UI Builder becomes much more intuitive.
If anyone is starting out, these two resources are great because they show the full lifecycle — from creating the workspace shell to wiring up data and customizing the UI.
